My Favorite Heart Rate Monitor

polar ft60 heart rate watch

When it comes to heart rate monitors, my favorite is the Polar FT60. The beauty of this watch is the advanced functionality for improving both your conditioning or for maximizing your fat loss. It will assess your current fitness level, help you develop a program based on your goals, and track your progress.Great for athletes, great for people who just want to lose weight.

Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor

polar fs1 heart rate monitorThe Polar FS1 is a very basic, but effective heart rate monitor. It’s not full of features, but it will provide you a good basic heart rate watch and a low price.

The heart rate readings on the FS1 is very accurate, much more accurate than you would expect from a similarly low priced watch. Another nice thing is that the watch is extremely simple to use. Even the setup is quite simple. There is only one button that is needed for setting the watch.  And since the watch doesn’t have a lot of complicated features, you can have this watch set up in just a few minutes.

The display on the FS1 is large and uncomplicated. The numbers are very clear and easy to read, which makes this product good for people with vision problems or who are simply confused by more complicated displays.

If you like to keep a consistent heart rate, this watch will work just fine for your needs. The FS1 gives an audio beep to let you know that you are either going over your heart rate limit, or if your heart rate goes below the lower limit you set. I think this feature is important for most people because the tendency for many exercisers is to overestimate their exertion level and train under the right heart rate zone. However, having the lower limit warning set will ensure that you pick up the pace and stay in the right training zone.

This heart rate monitor has limited recording capabilities. Basically, you get the average heart rate and your total exercise time. If you’re a serious trainer, this is probably not going to be good enough for your needs. However, if all you need is the basics, this is about as basic as it gets.

All in all, the FS1 heart rate monitor watch is a dependable, but very basic piece of equipment. It’s good for people who want to train in one steady heart rate zone, but it’s not that great for more experienced people and people who want to vary the intensity and complexity of their program.
